On the occasion of the visit of the President of People’s Republic of China, Mr. XI Jinping, to Poland, Warsaw University of Technology was visited by delegations from Chinese universities.
On June 17th, Professor Rajmund Bacewicz, Vice-Rector for Research, hosted representatives of Wuhan Association of Science and Technology and Jianghan University. During the meeting the delegates become acquainted with Warsaw University of Technology’s educational and scientific-research offer, as well made a presentation about the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, and local universities which may be considered as potential academic partners for WUT. Our guests were particularly interested in WUT’s offer of studies in English for Chinese students as well as in possibility of establishing a cooperation in the area of student and staff exchange, joint study programmes and possibilities of financing of potential academic cooperation by Chinese partners.
On June 20th 2016 Warsaw University of Technology was visited by delegation of Northwestern Politechnical University (Xian), one of the best Chinese technical universities, specialized in aviation and aerospace engineering, chemical technology and material engineering. The visit was a result of establishing cooperation with WUT faculty of Chemistry. Prof. Mikołaj Szafran from the Faculty delivered a series of lectures on designing and making of advanced ceramic materials as a visiting professor in Xian in 2015. The Chinese university is very interested in expanding the cooperation in the areas of research and education to other areas of common interest of both HEIs. Both sides agreed to start preparations to undersign an agreement on cooperation at university level. During the meeting, WUT was represented by Prof. Rajmund Bacewicz, Vice-Rector for Research and representatives of Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering and Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering.
The same day, on June 20th, Prof. Krzysztof Lewenstein, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, held a meeting with a delegation from Shenyang Ligong University of Liaoning province and representatives of Polish-Chinese Education Foundation. The visit was aimed at introducing WUT to a programme of Chinese Ministry of Education called “Cooperative Education Project”. Main task of this programme is to support educational offer of Chinese universities through joint engineering studies with leading universities of the world in order to boost international competences of students from China. According to this model, Chinese students leave their home universities after 2 years of studies and go to a foreign university for the remaining part of studies. Additionally, during the first 2 years, part of the study programme is taught by international lecturers from partner institutions. Representatives of WUT Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, Faculty of Electronics and information Technology and Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering expressed their preliminary interest in participation in this scheme.
