From July 1–18, 2025, Warsaw University of Technology, in cooperation with RWTH Aachen University and the Universitat Politècnica de València, organized the 4th edition of the interdisciplinary international summer school ENHANCE Summer School 'Green Campus 2.0 - Rethinking Campus Through Nature & Efficiency'.

This year, the focus was on addressing climate-related challenges inspired by universities campus spaces and architecture. The first edition of the summer school in 2021 served as a point of reference. Students observed Warsaw from the perspective of the WUT campus and its local spatial and environmental conditions. The event was coordinated by staff from the Centre for International Cooperation – Anna Smulska and Piotr Szczepański.

The summer school was conducted in English and consisted of three parts. In the first online part (July 1–3), students were introduced to nature-based solutions and the topic of waste management and to the basic knowledge of climate change and its complexity in the context of the functioning of the local systems, green-campus concept, eco-design and circular economy. The sessions were led by mentors from WUT and invited guests from ENHANCE partner universities: Verônica Garcia Donoso, PhD and Caner Telli, MA, from RWTH Aachen, and Prof. Javier Rodrigo Ilarri from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and Krystyna Lelicińska-Serafin, PhD from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering.
The second part of the summer school (July 7–11) took place on campus in Warsaw. It was led by a team of mentors from WUT, including: Mariusz Kaleta, PhD, DSc Eng. from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Anna Cudny, PhD, Eng. and Artur Jerzy Filip, PhD, Eng. from the Faculty of Architecture, Anna Rolewicz-Kalińska, PhD, Eng. from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Katarzyna Bargieł, MA from the Department of Cartography at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography.

The second day included field activities. An important element of the second day of the summer school was a study visit to the Jazdów Open Studio, located in one of the Finnish houses in Osiedle Jazdów, run by the Academic Association of the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology, where Mateusz Potempski - a student of the Faculty of Architecture and host of the studio - talked about the daily operation of the studio and its history and role and importance of Jazdów for Warsaw and its residents primarily in the context of climate change and community building.

On the third day, classes were conducted by Prof. Javier Rodrigo Ilarri, a researcher from the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Valènciaa. The session focused on the most interesting solutions applied in waste management.
The fourth day was dedicated to prototyping and testing the teams’ ideas.

On the final day of the in-person part, students presented the current progress of their final projects and took part in a quiz about Warsaw.
In the third part of the summer school (online, July 14–17), students worked on their group film projects. Final presentations took place on July 18, 2025.
A total of 22 students from 8 ENHANCE Alliance universities across 7 countries participated in the summer school. For their participation, students received 4 ECTS credits.
