Presentation of the Ivan Vyhovskyi Award
On May 22, 2026, the Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw organized the Ivan Vyhovskyi Award Ceremony at the Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki. Warsaw University of Technology was represented by Grzegorz Robak, Director of the WUT Centre for International Cooperation.

The Ivan Vyhovskyi Award was established in 2014 by the Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw, the College of Eastern Europe, the Ossoliński National Institute, and Polish universities. Its purpose is to honor citizens of Ukraine for their contributions to the development of science, culture, and public life, as well as to the formation and advancement of civil society in Ukraine.
This year’s award winner was Prof. Ivan Pankevych, Professor of Legal Sciences and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Development at the Lutsk Academy of Recreational Technologies and Law.
The award recipient will undertake a one-year research and teaching fellowship at Polish universities. In addition, ten scholars from Ukraine were honored with four-month fellowships at universities in Poland. The recipients are:
- Dr. Oksana Antoniuk from the V. Otamanovskyi Vinnytsia Regional Scientific Library
- Dr. Stanislav Bartashevskyi from the Dnipro National Mining University
- Prof. Hryhoriy Dmytriv from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
- Dr. Alla Dudnyk from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv
- Dr. Orysia Kharytoniuk from Lutsk (independent researcher)
- Dr. Tetyana Maslak from Lviv Polytechnic National University
- Dr. Zoia Pustova from the State Agrarian and Engineering University in Kamianets-Podilskyi
- Prof. Maksym Sitnicki from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
- Dr. Bohdan Turchyn from Lviv Polytechnic National University
- Dr. Alla Zlenko from Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav
The awardees represent a broad range of academic disciplines, including chemistry, architecture, robotics, economics, law, history, and biology. This diversity highlights the interdisciplinary nature of the program and underscores the importance of academic cooperation between Poland and Ukraine.
The Ivan Vyhovskyi Award aims to recognize the contributions of Ukrainian citizens to the development of science, culture, and public life, as well as their role in fostering civil society and supporting the development of a democratic Ukraine.
