Warsaw University of Technology Welcomes Gulf Delegation for Executive Course on Foresight and Disruption

Between 6 and 10 October 2025, the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) hosted an executive training course for participants from the Gulf countries titled “Harnessing Disruption: Strategic Foresight for Resilience & Growth.” The programme was developed by Futures Diamond Ltd and the Futures Capacity Academy (UK) in collaboration with WUT.

The course brought together 20 senior government officials and business leaders from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The sessions were led by Dr. Rafael Popper from the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Discussions focused on how strategic foresight and innovation can help institutions cope with uncertainty, strengthen resilience, and transform challenges into actions supporting sustainable development.

The sessions took place at the WUT campus on Rektorska 4, with additional visits to the Main Building and the Faculty of Architecture. The delegation was welcomed by members of the University authorities, who presented WUT’s international profile and key research areas.

During the course:

  • Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, Vice-Rector for Research, welcomed the participants and presented key facts about WUT.
  • Prof. Renata Walczak, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry and Vice-Rector for the Płock Branch, highlighted the importance of petrochemical research conducted at WUT — particularly relevant to the GCC region.
  • Prof. Tomasz Chmielewski, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, presented the activities of his Faculty.
  • Grzegorz Robak, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation, discussed opportunities for future collaboration between WUT and institutions from the Gulf region in areas such as student exchange, education, research, capacity building, and knowledge co-creation.

Krzysztof Ejsmont, PhD, from the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering delivered a session on AI-enabled quality control in manufacturing, highlighting its relevance for the Gulf region.
