Recruitment for the ENHANCE Testbed project at WUT - DEADLINE 30 January 2026

If you are interested in the energy transition, small modular reactors (SMR), law and regulations, and you would like to develop project and communication skills, we invite you to participate in a new educational project carried out at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences (WAiNS) of WUT as part of the ENHANCE Testbed program.

In an international team from Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), you will work on a real case of a model transformation of a Polish municipality (Płock).

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• develop an energy transition strategy for a selected municipality, taking into account technical, legal, regulatory and social aspects (including SMR/MMR options)
• prepare a communication strategy and multimedia materials (audio-video) for an information campaign
• work in a multidisciplinary and international team using modern teaching methods

PROJECT STRUCTURE (MODULES)

Module 1: Knowledge Integration and Introduction (4h): You will learn about the case of the city of Płock and its technological, legal-political, and environmental background. You will learn to view the energy transition from a systemic perspective. You will get to know the technical, social and regulatory conditions for applying various energy technologies and operating systems.

Module 2: Multidisciplinary Technological and Environmental Assessment (12h): You will analyse the current energy system, available technological options, scenarios, and regulations, as well as their environmental impact, under the guidance and with the participation of lecturers from all partner universities.

Module 3: Strategy Development (6h): You will develop a local energy transition strategy and an implementation roadmap, with clearly defined stages, actors, and risks. At this stage, you will communicate with municipal authorities and other stakeholders.

Modules 4 and 5: Designing and Implementing a Social Campaign (5h+6h): You will translate the strategy into an informational campaign and communication activities aimed at residents and stakeholders. You will learn how to build messages understandable to different audiences. You will prepare audiovisual materials.

FORMAT AND WORKLOAD

You will be divided into small groups. Each group will be responsible for specific tasks that together will form the entire project. Groups will be self-managed and coordinated by you.

A steering committee composed of academic staff and student representatives will continuously coordinate activities and support subsequent project stages.

Classes with academic teachers will take place in several-hour modules of 4, 6, or 12 hours during 1–2 days per month (February–June). Between these meetings, you will carry out independent group work coordinated by the Steering Committee.

Talks are ongoing with companies from the energy sector to strengthen the practical aspect of the project.

Efforts are being made to award an additional 2–4 ECTS points for participation in the project.

Students and doctoral candidates of Warsaw University of Technology (on-site + online participation) and ENHANCE partner universities (online participation only).
