5th Polish Conference on Artificial Intelligence (PP-RAI 2024)
The fifth edition of the international "Polish Conference on Artificial Intelligence" was held on April 18-20 in the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science Building and the Small Hall of the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology. The event was organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science WUT in cooperation with the Polish Alliance for the Development of Artificial Intelligence - PP-RAI and with the support of the Excellence Initiative Research University Program. The conference was attended by 330 participants.

PP-RAI aims to bring together researchers from the domain of Artificial Intelligence and to provide a platform for
- sharing, exchange, presentation and discussion of original research results in different areas of artificial intelligence;
- discussion on important research initiatives, projects and organizations related to AI development in Poland and abroad;
- cooperation between the AI community, research institutions and business partners.

The conference addresses a number of aspects of Artificial Intelligence, which have been organized into the following thematic tracks:

- Knowledge Engineering
- Medical Applications of Artificial Intelligence
- Neural Network and Deep Learning Systems
- Natural Language Processing, Automatic Speech Recognition, and Conversational AI
- Computer Vision
- Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence
- Robotics and Autonomous Systems
- Problem Solving and Optimisation
- Artificial Intelligence in Bioinformatics
- Generative Artificial Intelligence
- Interdisciplinary Topics in Artificial Intelligence
- Young.AI (session for young researchers)
- Reports on AI Business Projects (session for Business Pass participants)
The Polish Alliance for the Development of Artificial Intelligence) was established on October 18, 2018 by the following scientific organizations and associations: PSSI – Polish Artificial Intelligence Society, PTSN – Polish Neural Network Society, Polish Special Interest Group on Machine Learning, Polish Chapter of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, Polish Chapter of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
The purpose of the alliance is to cooperate and coordinate activities for: the development of artificial intelligence in Poland, the integration of the Polish scientific community involved in AI, the organization of joint and periodic meetings of the AI community, and support of the community in dealing with the government.
PP-RAI conferences have already been held five times, in 2018 (in Poznań), 2019 (in Wrocła), 2022 (in Gdynia), 2023 (in Łódź) and 2024 (in Warsaw).

PP-RAI’2024 research highlights:
– opening session with the participation of Vice-Rector for Science Prof. Mariusz Malinowski and invited guests
– 3 plenary lectures delivered by top researchers in the field (prof. Risto Miikkulainen, Prof. Barbara Hammer, Prof. Jakub Nalepa)
– 2 intedyscyplinary panels devoted to social aspects of AI and its impact on future research moderated by prof. Włodzisław Duch and Mr. Marcin Rotkiewicz from Polityka weekly
– 3 oral and 4 poster sessions with over 200 presentations.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning enthusiasts are invited to participate in next year's edition of the conference, which will be held at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
