ATHENS Programme session at the Warsaw University of Technology

The inauguration of the spring session of the ATHENS Programme was held on March 18, 2024 in the Central Auditorium at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology. Courses will run until March 23, 2024.

The inauguration was attended by Prof. Michał Malinowski, Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Prof. Janusz Frączak, Dean of the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, Prof. Roman Morawski, from Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Prof. Tomasz Wiśniewski, from the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, and Grzegorz Robak, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Anna Smulska from the Centre for International Cooperation.

51 students from 10 countries and the following universities came to WUT: Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), Instituto Superior Técnico Lisboa (Portugal), University Politehnica of Bucharest (Romania), Istanbul Technical University (Turkey), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), Technische Universität München (Germany), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (Spain). Among them are 2 universities belonging to the ENHANCE consortium.

Students have taken one of 2 courses: WUT03 - "Ethical Aspects of Research and Engineering", at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, coordinated by Prof. Roman Morawski, Ph.D., and WUT11 - "Energy Sources, Conversion and Storage" at the Faculty of Power and Aerospace Engineering, coordinated by Prof. Tomasz Wisniewski, Ph.D., Eng. 

In the spring session, 133 students of the Warsaw University of Technology also took part in courses organized by  ATHENS partner universities. 

ATHENS is a program aimed at developing the engineering and intercultural competencies of students at European technical universities. The courses implemented under ATHENS are specialized in nature. Currently, 15 universities from 15 countries participate in the program. 

ATHENS sessions are held twice a year, in March and November in each country. Each session includes a 5-day intensive course (30 hours) and a cultural program of European Dimension Activities (10-15 hours), which at PW is prepared and run by the Student Government. 

The next ATHENS session will be held in November 2024.
