ENHANCE Staff Week at Chalmers University in Gothenburg

On April 26-28, 2022, Chalmers University in Gothenburg and Warsaw University of Technology organized ENHANCE Staff Weeks, held at Chalmers University.

The philosophy of ENHANCE Staff Week is to bring the employees closer together, to familiarize them with the ongoing modernization of university administration and to create a more substantial commitment to the Alliance values.

The staff weeks 2 and 3 at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, have offered a broad overview of two main subjects: The Innovative Learning Environments and The Education Pathways Towards Virtual Exchange. They have also inspired fresh ideas on higher education, such as the session on sustainable entrepreneurship and the challenges of virtual mobility.

Prof. Jan Słyk, Vice-Rector for Studies at the Warsaw University of Technology, in his speech opening the event at Chalmers pointed out the importance of academic provisions in the context of ENHANCE activities. He announced the main thematic areas of the workshops prepared by the WUT experts and emphasized the involvement of all ENHANCE universities in aid activities for Ukraine as an example of service-learning.

The Warsaw University of Technology prepared the Staff Week 2 focused on The Innovative Learning Environments programme. Its overall theme was the need for a new conceptual and practical framework to introduce virtual education.

Agnieszka Skala-Gosk, PhD, from the WUT Faculty of Management, conducted a workshop on Co-creation in new learning environments, during which she discussed building an ecosystem for promoting the idea of co-creation and best practices in this area.

Workshop prepared by Dr. Eng. Artur Filip from the WUT Faculty of Architecture was devoted to Service learning: new opportunities for students and PhD students and concerned i.a. project-based learning and solving problems of local communities. 

Dr. Piotr Pałka from the WUT Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology conducted a workshop on Research-based education in virtual/hybrid learning environments. Workshop participants discussed possibilities and benefits of use of the research component in didactics and discussed examples of such solutions applied at ENHANCE universities.

A total of 50 representatives of ENHANCE partner universities participated in the workshops conducted by experts from the Warsaw University of Technology.

The Staff Week 3, dedicated to The Education Pathways Towards Virtual Exchange and designed by the Chalmers University of Technology, was focused on concept and implementation of virtual mobility. The selection of ENHANCE students and the purpose and recognition of the courses offered have been addressed during this event.
