Inauguration of the 3rd edition of the summer school “Blue-Green-IN Climate Change Summer School 2024” at WUT

The inauguration of the 3nd edition of the international summer school ENHANCE BLUE-GREEN-IN CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMER SCHOOL 2024 organised by Warsaw University of Technology, in cooperation with RWTH Aachen and Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), took place on July 1, 2024. Through lectures by guests, group discussions and hands-on activities in designing, prototyping and testing their ideas, participants will gain essential knowledge and skills in climate change issues.

The inauguration was attended by Anna Cudny, PhD and Artur Jerzy Filip, PhD from the Faculty of Architecture, Anna Rolewicz-Kalińska, PhD from the Faculty of Building Installations, Hydraulic Engineering and Environmental Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, Katarzyna Bargieł, MA from the Cartography Department at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology, and Anna Smulska, MA and Piotr Szczepański, MA from the Center for International Cooperation.

The summer school consists of three parts. The first part takes place remotely (1, 2 and 11 July); for the second part, students will come to Warsaw (15-19 July). The last part consists of students' work and a summary and presentation of group projects (online 22-26 July, 31 July - handing in of projects).

During the first part, students were introduced to nature-based solutions (NbS) and the problems of consumption and waste management. The workshop was supported by guest lecturers from the ENHANCE partner universities: Verônica Garcia Donoso, PhD, Caner Telli, MA from the RWTH Aachen University of Technology, and Prof. Javier Rodrigo Ilarri from Universitat Politècnica de València.

Twenty-two students from five universities and four countries, among them the five universities of the ENHANCE consortium, are participating in the summer school. Students who complete the workshop will receive a certificate equivalent to 4 ECTS credits.
