International Cooperation of the Foreign Language Centre at WUT (FLC)
The Foreign Language Centre at Warsaw University of Technology (FLC WUT) has been successfully continuing to develop its international cooperation through existing projects and new initiatives.
In the summer semester, FLC lecturers – Ms. Dorota Chromińska, MA, Ms. Ewelina Janas, MA, Ms. Magda Lokwenc, MA, Ms. Magda Turowska, MA, Ms. Natalia Nowak-Psiuk, MA, Ms. Małgorzata Witczak, MA and Ms. Ilona Zarajczyk, MA – prepared and conducted a workshop on innovative teaching projects implemented at FLC. The workshop was presented during training sessions for Lviv and Kyiv Polytechnic University academic staff. It will also be featured at a didactic-scientific conference organised by the Faculty of Applied Linguistics at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” on June 12–13, 2025.
During the past semester, FLC continued to offer programs highly appreciated by WUT students, including an Italian language course for architecture students organised in cooperation with the Polytechnic University of Milan, designed by Ms. Magda Turowska, MA. As part of the May classes, a meeting was held with Luigi Ripamonti, Deputy Head of Mission of the Italian Embassy. During the session, topics included Italian architecture in Warsaw, Polish-Italian relations, Italian culture, and the architecture of various Italian cities.
As part of continuing existing formats, another edition of the specialised English course with elements of Spanish – Developing Professional Communication Skills Around the UN’s 17 Sustainability Goals in Polish-Spanish Teams – was conducted. Polish and Spanish students participated in the course, which was prepared and led in cooperation with the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) by Ms. Dorota Chromińska, MA, Ms. Ilona Zarajczyk, MA and Ms. Oksana Ployakova-Nesterenko, PhD (UPV).
WUT students also had the opportunity to participate in a small research project organised jointly by the Silesian University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and Lviv Polytechnic National University. In Polish-Ukrainian groups, students developed small research projects and presented their results at an online conference covering topics related to culture, language, and sustainable development. On behalf of FLC, the project was coordinated by Ms. Bożena Przybyło, MA and Ms. Dorota Chromińska, MA.
As per tradition, the Polish-German Sprachcafé meeting also took place, with students participating from the technical universities of Gdańsk, Warsaw, Berlin, and Aachen. The main coordinator of this initiative is Ms. Ewa Tabaczyńska, PhD, from FLC.
As part of study visits, FLC hosted English language lecturers Mariana Hawran, PhD and Anna Shayner, PhD, from the Foreign Language Centre at Lviv Polytechnic National University. They conducted classes with WUT students, observed language lessons, and participated in meetings with the FLC management and teaching staff. One of the outcomes of these visits is the joint development of a course for students from both WUT and Lviv Polytechnic National University titled Soft Skills for Employability. These visits were coordinated by Ms. Dorota Chromińska, MA.
