March Session of the ATHENS Programme at WUT 2026

On 16 March 2026, the inauguration of the spring session of the ATHENS Programme took place in Room 315 at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography. The courses will run until 21 March 2026.

The inauguration was attended by Prof. Roman Morawski (Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology), Prof. Tomasz Wiśniewski (Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering), Prof. Jan Żera, Head of the Electroacoustics Division at the Institute of Radioelectronics and Multimedia Technology (Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology), Dr. Wojciech Ostrowski (Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography), and Tomasz Langowski, Chair of the International Affairs Committee from the Students’ Union of the Warsaw University of Technology. The meeting was organised and hosted by Anna Smulska from the Centre for International Cooperation.

Our University welcomed 95 students from 10 countries and the following universities: Czech Technical University in Prague (Czech Republic), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary), National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (Romania), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal), KU Leuven (Belgium), TU Wien (Austria), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), and Istanbul Technical University (Turkey). Among them are two universities belonging to the ENHANCE Alliance.

Students will participate in one of four courses:

WUT03 – “Ethical Aspects of Research and Engineering”, Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, lecturer: Prof. Roman Morawski

WUT10 – “Sound: Hearing and Acoustical Measurement”, Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, lecturer: Prof. Jan Żera

WUT11 – “Energy Sources, Conversion and Storage”, Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, lecturer: Prof. Tomasz Wiśniewski

WUT20 – “UAV Data Processing”, Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, lecturer: Wojciech Ostrowski, PhD Eng.

The spring session also includes 214 students from Warsaw University of Technology who are participating in courses organized by ATHENS partner universities.

ATHENS is a programme aimed at developing engineering and intercultural competencies among students of European technical universities. Courses offered within ATHENS are specialized in nature. Currently, 15 universities from 15 countries participate in the programme.

ATHENS sessions take place twice a year, in March and November. Each session includes a 5-day intensive course (30 hours) and a cultural programme called European Dimension Activities (10–15 hours), which at WUT is prepared and organized by the Student Union.

The next ATHENS session will take place in November 2026.
