SAY HELLO TO POLAND

The event “Say Hello to Poland” was organized on the 15th November 2022 by the team of Foreign Language Centre of Warsaw University of Technology as part of the ENHANCE language tandem project.

The event began with an interactive quiz in which participants shared their associations with Poland (they mainly associated Poland with very friendly people, apples, a cool climate and... the Hussars), then compared their knowledge with facts selected by the presenters relating to Poland's history (among others, the legacy of Solidarity trade union was mentioned) and its environment. During the meeting, the presenters introduced the profiles of Polish Nobel Prize winners and discussed the most important issues related to academic life in Poland.

The aim of the 'Say hello to Poland' meeting was also to familiarise participants with socio-cultural life in Poland, including social changes, our music and cuisine.

We hope that learning about some of the issues concerning the Polish language as well as a few Polish tongue twisters, which are obviously a great challenge for the listeners, will inspire the participants of the meeting to learn more about our culture and language.

The event ended with a short question and answer session.

The next meetings of the "Say hello to..." series are planned soon. These will be: "Say Hello to Spain" and "Say Hello to Ukraine".
