Visit of the Chalmers Student Housing Foundation Delegation to Warsaw University of Technology

On 26 May 2026, a delegation of 21 representatives from the Chalmers Student Housing Foundation visited Warsaw University of Technology (WUT). Chalmers is WUT’s partner university within the ENHANCE Alliance. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the support Warsaw University of Technology offers students in the areas of accommodation and other services, as well as to conduct study visits to two student dormitories. Preparations for the visit were coordinated by WUT’s Centre for International Cooperation.

The Chalmers Student Housing Foundation is an independent foundation established by the Chalmers University of Technology Student Union in 1961. It works closely with the university and currently manages approximately 2,500 student housing units. Chalmers University of Technology itself does not own student dormitories – these are provided by the foundation. The foundation has recently launched a new project involving the construction of 400 new student apartments on campus. They are scheduled to be completed in 2029, marking the 200th anniversary of Chalmers University of Technology and the 125th anniversary of the Student Union.

The Chalmers delegation began its visit at WUT’s Main Building at 12:00 p.m. Grzegorz Robak, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation, welcomed the participants and presented key information about WUT and student accommodation in the university’s dormitories. He addressed issues related to the financing of student housing and discussed challenges associated with demographic decline and the changing needs of students.

Next, Katarzyna Dyrka from the Centre for International Cooperation spoke about the activities and support offered to international staff and students through the WUT Welcome Point. Magdalena Nałęcz from the Centre for International Cooperation – International Students Office presented the objectives and best practices of organizing National Days at WUT. These events are dedicated to the countries of origin of our students and showcase their history and traditions. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Eng. Rafał Ruzik, Vice-Chancellor for Core Operations.

In the afternoon, Monika Wesołowska and Oskar Matuszewski from the Accommodation Office of the Student Dormitories Complex, together with Grzegorz Robak, accompanied the Chalmers Student Housing Foundation delegation on visits to two WUT student dormitories – Pineska and Bratniak. During the visits, they presented the dormitory infrastructure to the guests, including student rooms, study rooms, TV lounges, gyms, social spaces, and other facilities, while also explaining how WUT student dormitories operate.
