Visit of the delegation of Auburn University to WUT

On 14th July 2015 a delegation of Samuel Ginn College of Engineering of Auburn University (USA) paid a visit to Warsaw University of Technology. Participants of the delegation were: Dean of Engineering Prof. Christopher Roberts and representatives of 5 departments interested in cooperation with WUT.

Auburn University, located in Alabama, is a big public university that has been ranked in the Top 50 of public universities in the United States for many years. Samuel Ginn College of Engineering has 5500 students and offers 11 academic programmes in engineering, including the only Wireless Engineering programme in the USA. The Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering is a graduate of Warsaw University of Technology, Prof. Andrzej Nowak.

The aim of the visit of Auburn University representatives was to get acquainted with Warsaw University of Technology, its research fields and infrastructure and possibilities of establishing cooperation in the areas of education and research. The delegates visited also three WUT faculties: Electronics and Information Technology, Power and Aeronautical Engineering and Chemistry faculty, where they were introduced to their research profiles and laboratories.

As both Universities have similar areas of education and research, the possibilities of cooperation are very promising, especially in the areas of aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, electronics, civil engineering and material science. During the visit, the possibilities of establishing exchange programmes for regular and Ph.D. students were discussed as well as perspectives of financing joint research from the funds of American companies cooperating closely with Auburn University.
