Visitors from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology at WUT

On 12th May 2015 Prof. Tony F Chan, the President Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, together with other representatives of the University have paid a visit at the Warsaw University of Technology.

HKUST is a leading a University not only in Hong Kong but also in the whole of Asia. It is the best Asian university according to  QS 2013 ranking.

Amongst people from HKUST who came to visit WUT were:

  • Dr. Eden Y Woon, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement,
  • Prof. Charles Ng, Associate Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies & Chair Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering,
  • Prof. Yang Wang, Head & Chair Professor of Mathematics, School of Science,
  • Prof. Chi Ying Tsui, Associate Dean, School of Engineering,
  • Prof. Cameron Campbell, Associate Dean, School of Humanities & Social Science,
  • Ms. Yvonne Lee, Head, International Affairs and Marketing,
  • Ms. Michelle Mak, Manager, International Affairs and Marketing.

Guests were welcomed by Rector of WUT Professor Jan Szmidt and by Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Rajmund Bacewicz who led a meeting with Deans and Vice-Deans of the Faculties equivalent to the visitors’ ones, Ms. Marta Szajnowska-Ksit, Deputy Director of WUT’s Centre for International Cooperation and Mr. Marek Korowajczyk, Vice-Director of International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Possible opportunities of cooperation between both Universities involving exchange of students and Staff were discussed at the meeting. It is expected that the cooperation will be signed in the near future.

After the formal meeting, students and staff of WUT were invited to a lecture by Prof. Tony F Chan about “HKUST, Rising China and Global Impact”.
