Warsaw University of Technology Develops Cooperation with Peru
An honorary professorship awarded by a Peruvian university to the Vice-Rector for Research of Warsaw University of Technology, a joint publication on artificial intelligence, and a tribute to an outstanding Polish engineer – these are the three key events in October 2026 highlighting the academic cooperation between Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) and universities in Peru.
Prof. Mariusz Malinowski Appointed Honorary Professor at Universidad Católica de Santa María
During his visit to Peru, Prof. Mariusz Malinowski was awarded the title of Honorary Professor by Universidad Católica de Santa María (UCSM) in Arequipa, Peru. The distinction was conferred as part of the university's 65th-anniversary celebrations.

Publication on Artificial Intelligence Available in Three Languages
Another important highlight of the visit was the launch of Inteligencia Artificial para Ingenieros, Métodos Generales, a publication dedicated to the applications of artificial intelligence. Published by Universidad Católica de Santa María, the book is available in three language versions: Spanish, English and Polish. The presentation took place on Monday, 5 October, and was attended by university representatives, members of the Supreme Court in Arequipa, and researchers from Peru and other countries.
The publication covers, among other topics, applications of artificial intelligence, optimisation methods, machine learning, artificial neural networks and deep neural networks. It is a valuable source of knowledge for students of computer science and engineering, as well as anyone interested in the development of new technologies.
Prof. Mariusz Malinowski attended the event and, in his address, emphasised the importance of academic cooperation in advancing new technologies.

Ernest Malinowski – A Tribute to Polish Engineering
As part of the celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of Warsaw University of Technology, the WUT Vice-Rector for Research laid flowers at the monument to Ernest Malinowski, located on the campus of Universidad Católica de Santa María.
Ernest Malinowski was an outstanding Polish engineer who designed and supervised the construction of the Central Trans-Andean Railway. The project required groundbreaking engineering solutions and involved the construction of 62 tunnels and 50 bridges and viaducts.
