Warsaw University of Technology for the 2nd time with NAWA funding for academic cooperation with Ukraine
On 27 December 2023, an agreement was signed with the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange for the continuation and development of cooperation with Ukrainian universities. The agreement relates to cooperation with Kyiv University of Technology and Lviv University of Technology as part of the Warsaw University of Technology's activities in the ENHANCE Alliance.
The funding could be received only by Polish universities cooperating in alliances of European universities within 'European Universities Initiative'. These are international partnerships of universities that are intended to become the universities of the future, enabling students to combine their studies in several countries through innovative forms of education, and university staff to cooperate systemically with foreign partner universities. Thanks to NAWA funding, Warsaw University of Technology can develop academic cooperation with National Technical University of Ukraine in Kyiv and Lviv Polytechnic National University, which are associated partners of the ENHANCE Alliance (ENHANCE Network Partners).
The project proposal was prepared by the Centre for International Cooperation in collaboration with the faculties and the Foreign Language Centre at WUT. The project will be implemented in 2024, with a budget of 819 866,64 PLN. As a part of the NAWA project, we have planned, among other things, the participation of scientists and students from Lviv and Kyiv Polytechnic Universities in study visits, summer schools, conferences, Ukraine Day at WUT, language courses (including language tandems, a Polish language discussion club and an English course), a Biohackathon, a mini symposium of the WUT Doctoral School, and a conference summarising the results of both NAWA projects related to support for Ukrainian universities.
The NAWA project is a follow-up of the "Solidarity with Ukraine - European Universities" programme, under which Warsaw University of Technology has allocated 992 750 PLN from NAWA in 2023. A list of the activities we have carried out as part of this programme can be found HERE.
Activities under the programme are coordinated by the Centre for International Cooperation.
