Welcome Meeting for New International Students at WUT
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, an information session, “Welcome Meeting”, was held at the building on Rektorska 4 for international students beginning their full-degree studies in English at the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT). The Centre for International Cooperation (CWM) team organised the event – Karol Maśluszczak and Olga Świderska. Over 100 students took part in the meeting.

The goal of the meeting was to introduce new students to academic life at WUT, present the university’s structure, and showcase the wide range of opportunities available – from involvement in student research groups and artistic ensembles to participation in international initiatives within the ENHANCE Alliance. The event also provided a chance for integration and for students to get to know the units that support them during their studies.

The program featured presentations by representatives of key university departments and partner institutions. The meeting was opened by Grzegorz Robak, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation, who welcomed the participants and outlined the main objectives of the event.

He was followed by Naz Kabaroğlu from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, a student ambassador from Turkey, who shared her experiences of student life and her first steps at WUT.

Next, Ayub Otieno from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, ENHANCE Buddies Ambassador and ENHANCE Diversity Seed Fund participant, presented the opportunities offered by the ENHANCE Alliance and encouraged students to participate in international projects. He also invited new WUT students to an online information session dedicated to new ENHANCE educational offers, scheduled for November 5 at 5:30 p.m. More information – HERE.

Following him, Jakub Tyszkiewicz from the Student Astronautical Association (SKA) spoke about the group’s engineering-focused activities in space exploration. Members of the association design and test their own constructions, build rockets and rovers, and conduct balloon missions. They also launched Poland’s first student-built satellite and continue developing new versions. The group also participates in projects exploring the challenges of living beyond Earth.

Then, Magdalena Maciąg, representing the Main Library of WUT, presented the rules for using library resources and available databases.

Marta Szpak, from the Foreign Language Centre, provided information about language courses, including Polish language classes, encouraging students to learn the language and integrate with the local WUT community.

Another speaker, Magdalena Piaskowska from the Warsaw Multicultural Center, introduced initiatives that support foreigners in adapting to life in Warsaw.

The meeting concluded with a presentation by Welcome Point PW, led jointly by Katarzyna Dyrka and Marzena Pobojewska, who discussed organisational matters related to residence legalisation and healthcare in Poland.
Participants also had the opportunity for informal conversations with CWM staff and senior students and to ask questions about everyday life at the university and in the city.
The event confirmed that the Warsaw University of Technology is an open, supportive, and friendly institution for students worldwide, offering them broad opportunities for academic and personal development.
