Academic staff from WUT co-create the course “Enhancing Sustainable Communication, Professional Competences & AI”

From February to April 2026, Dorota Chromińska and Ilona Zarajczyk-Pawłowska from the Foreign Language Centre at Warsaw University of Technology, along with Anna Rolewicz-Kalińska, PhD, from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, are participating as co-authors and co-instructors in the international ENHANCE Alliance project “Enhancing Sustainable Communication, Professional Competences & AI”. The project is implemented as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). The Polytechnic University of Valencia organised the course in cooperation with Warsaw University of Technology, Berlin University of Technology, and the Lviv and Kyiv Polytechnics, ENHANCE partner universities in Ukraine. Each institution was responsible for delivering one of five online modules. WUT focused on greenwashing, the use of AI in this area, and communication skills.

The course is attended by 45 students, including 10 students from the Warsaw University of Technology, 15 students from the Berlin University of Technology, 10 participants from three UPV campuses in Valencia, Gandia, and Alcoy, and 10 students from the Lviv and Kyiv Polytechnics. The program has an international and intercultural character, creating opportunities for the exchange of academic experiences and the development of communication skills.

The course is conducted in three stages: an online component (18 February – 6 March 2026), delivered via MS Teams; an intensive week of on-site classes in Valencia (9–13 March 2026); followed by a project work phase and portfolio preparation in April 2026.

The programme covers topics related to sustainable development, analysed across five dimensions: People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnership, and Peace. An important component also includes workshops developing communication and intercultural competencies, as well as sessions devoted to the use of artificial intelligence in academic learning and work. Participants work in international project teams, which supports the development of collaboration skills in a multicultural environment. The project is conducted in English and Spanish.

The participation of Dorota Chromińska, Ilona Zarajczyk-Pawłowska, and Anna Rolewicz-Kalińska, PhD, in this project is of significant importance for the development of teaching competences and the internationalisation of language and specialist education at WUT. The experience gained and observations regarding project work, intercultural communication, and the use of AI tools can be applied in further work with students.

The course will conclude with the preparation of team projects and the presentation of participants’ portfolios. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate confirming the award of 3 ECTS credits.
