Participation of Ukrainian academics in the ‘Signal Processing Symposium’ in Karpacz

On 25-28.09.2023, the Signal Processing Symposium was held in Karpacz. The Warsaw University of Technology, MIKON Microwave and Radiolocation Foundation and the Wrocław University of Technology organised the conference in cooperation with the Polish Academy of Sciences. Thanks to the NAWA funding "Solidarity with Ukraine - European Universities", six academics from Ukraine took part in the symposium - 3 from Lviv Polytechnic and 3 from Kyiv Polytechnic.

The Signal Processing Symposium is a biannual international conference that brings students, researchers, and scientists representing a broad spectrum of computer science and radioelectronics disciplines to present their latest findings and to discuss new trends shaping future research directions in science and technology.

From the beginning, SPSympo has been created by researchers from the Institute of Electronic Systems located at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology. The MIKON Foundation is organising this conference for the fourth time. The co-organiser of SPSympo-2023 is also the Faculty of Electronics, Photonics and Microsystems of Wrocław University of Technology.

Co-organisation of conferences by academic institutions other than the PW is a manifestation of activities integrating academic centres in Poland that are active in the fields of sciences dealing with electronic signal processing.

SPSympo aims to provide a platform for young academics, PhD students and postgraduates to exchange views and experiences by bringing together signal processing specialists in an international forum. The topics addressed during the event are essential because of the dynamic technological development and transformations in almost all spheres of life.

The conference covered relevant topics on current electronic signal processing techniques and their implementation, i.e. signal/sound/image acquisition, processing, transmission and analysis in a wide range of possible applications that include remote sensing systems, IoT, telemedicine, medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, robotics, system interaction, environmental monitoring, space technologies (more than 20 thematic groups in total). In addition, the conference included special sessions with lectures by prominent national and international specialists.

SPSympo-2023 was held alongside the LXIX Open Seminar on Acoustics (OSA), organised under the auspices of the Acoustics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the Polish Acoustical Society, which annually brings together scientists and researchers dealing with acoustics in the broadest sense.

The organisers of SPSympo-2023 envisage the publication of conference proceedings (online) and in the indexed IEEEXplore database. In addition, selected authors of the best papers will be invited to publish in indexed international journals.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Space Agency.
