Participation of WUT’s Welcome Point staff in the staff week at RWTH Aachen
A staff week for ENHANCE technical and administrative university staff was held at the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH) from 16-20 October 2023. Warsaw University of Technology was represented by representatives of the newly established Welcome Point office operating within the Centre for International Cooperation - Katarzyna Dyrka, MA, and Marzena Pobojewska, MA. Thanks to the NAWA funding "Solidarity with Ukraine - European Universities", Prof. Nataliya Hots from Lviv Polytechnic and Prof. Zoia Korniev from Kyiv Polytechnic also took part in the staff meeting. The main theme of the event was: internationalisation.

During their stay at one of the best technical universities in Europe, Staff Week participants attended a number of meetings and workshops aimed at improving their international and intercultural skills in order to be better prepared to communicate with foreign researchers, students, as well as with the staff of their own university.

As part of the Job shadowing session, the WUT representatives met Andrea Porten from the Welcome Centre for International Researches of RWTH Aachen, who introduced them to the operation of this unit, its role and importance in the functioning of the RWTH, as well as talked about the challenges faced by its staff on a daily basis.
In addition, the WUT representatives visited the Melaten Campus, including the Institute of Textiles with its modern research facilities for scientists, and saw the products manufactured by them, which in future may have broad applications in various sectors of the economy, i.e. energy, automotive or medical.
Participation in the staff week proved to be an excellent opportunity to work in international teams, exchange intercultural experiences, and establish new and valuable contacts abroad, but above all, it showed the participants how important internationalisation is in the activities of any university that is oriented towards global success.
