Delegation of Centre for International Cooperation participated in Study in Europe – South Korea 2016, which took place in Seoul on 4th and 5th of June, as well as in the preceding conference on 3th of June. The fair was organized by British Council and was visited by several thousands of participants. South Korea, along with China and India, is one of the countries which send the biggest numbers of students abroad. The stand of Warsaw University of Technology at the fair was visited by many participants.
During the stay in South Korea, the delegation of Centre for International Cooperation met representatives and students of 2 partner universities. On 3rd of June we paid a visit to Hanyang University (HYU) in Seoul. WUT has been actively cooperating with HYU since 2011 in the area of bilateral student exchange. During the meeting with representatives of Office of International Affairs several topics were discussed, i.e. development of exchange, possibilities of co-financing of cooperation from EU sources as well as extension of cooperation agreement which is going to expire in 2016. We were also introduced to a HYU student who is going to spend one semester at WUT (Faculty of Architecture) in the academic year 2016/2017. On 7th of June we paid a visit to Kyungpook National University (KNU) located in the city of Daegu. This is the strongest Korean partner of WUT, cooperating with our University at many fields, including bilateral student exchange, double degree programme (with Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology) and KEUDOS project. During the meeting we summarized actions undertaken until now and discussed perspectives for the future. Our representatives also met WUT students studying currently at KNU as well as KNU student who is going to spend one semester at WUT (Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology) in the academic year 2016/2017.
During the visit to South Korea, our representatives had an opportunity to meet Mr. In-Bong Han Ph. D., representing Korea Student Aid Foundation – governmental foundation providing scholarships to young Koreans for studying abroad. We discussed possibilities of scholarships for students of partner universities from EU countries to study in South Korea.
