Warsaw University of Technology with NAWA funding for academic cooperation with Ukraine

On 20 December 2022, at the headquarters of the National Agency for Academic Cooperation (NAWA), the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Warsaw University of Technology, prof. Jan Słyk signed an agreement with the National Agency for Academic Cooperation. NAWA funding is dedicated to the development of academic cooperation with Ukrainian universities.

The funding could be received only by Polish universities cooperating in alliances of European universities within 'European Universities Initiative'. These are international partnerships of universities that are intended to become the universities of the future, enabling students to combine their studies in several countries through innovative forms of education, and university staff to cooperate systemically with foreign partner universities. We will develop academic cooperation with National Technical University of Ukraine in Kyiv and Lviv Polytechnic National University, which are associated partners of the ENHANCE Alliance (ENHANCE Network Partners).

The project proposal was prepared by the Centre for International Cooperation in collaboration with the faculties and the Foreign Language Centre at WUT. The project was implemented in 2023, with a budget of 992 750 PLN. As part of the NAWA project, we planed the participation of researchers and students from Lviv and Kyiv Technical Universities in study visits, internships, summer and winter schools, as well as conferences and language courses organised at Warsaw University of Technology, and the development of teaching materials with the participation of academic teachers from both Ukrainian technical universities.

The NAWA project is a follow-up of the 'Solidarity with Ukraine' programme, under which Warsaw University of Technology has allocated 530 000 PLN from NAWA to pay scholarships to 53 students.
