Day of Türkiye at Warsaw University of Technology
On May 21, 2024, in the building at 4 Rectorska Street, the Center for International Cooperation organized the Dayof Türkiye in cooperation with the Embassy of Türkiye in Warsaw and WUT students from Türkiye - Naz Kabaroğlu, Altun Kerem and Özgur Avci. More than 70 people attended the event.

During the meeting, Warsaw University of Technology was represented by Prof. Robert Zalewski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, and the Embassy of Türkiye by Mr. Rauf Alp Denktaş. The event was also attended by Mr Mehmetali Akdağ, Counsellor for Education at the Embassy of Türkiye; Mr. Umut Aksungur, Counsellor for Culture and Information at the Embassy of Türkiye; Ms Rahime İğdeci Hosny, First Secretary of the Embassy and Mr Grzegorz Robak, Director of the Center for International Cooperation, Ms. Marta Szajnowska-Ksit, Deputy Director of the Center for International Cooperation, as well as lecturers and other employees of Warsaw University of Technology

Magdalena Bobryk from the International Students Office and Naz Kabaroğlu, an Environmental Engineering student at WUT, opened and led the meeting. Representatives of the Embassy of Türkiye presented promotional films presenting the most beautiful places in their country. Altun Kerem, a student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, gave a presentation on Türkiye's geography, its largest cities, Turkish cuisine, Turkish universities, and Nobel laureates. In turn, Özgur Avci, a Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology student, taught the participants essential Turkish words and presented interesting facts about the Turkish language.

In the second part of the event, representatives of the Embassy answered questions sent in by the meeting participants on topics such as Türkiye's accession to the European Union, types of universities in Türkiye and Turkish desserts. Meeting participants could also verify their knowledge of Türkiye during a quiz. Five people who demonstrated the most excellent knowledge and reflexes received gifts from the Embassy of Türkiye, and five Turkish participants received gadgets from the Center for International Cooperation.
The event ended with a joint photo and tasting of Turkish snacks and Turkish tea from the Embassy of Türkiye in Warsaw.

The Day of Türkiye was the third stationary event in the National Days series that the Center for International Cooperation organised. Two such events were held in 2023 - Indonesia Day and India Day.
