ATHENS Programme November 2021 session

Information for incoming students

Dear Students,

We are very glad you are interested in taking part in a course organized by Warsaw University of Technology.

We are planning to organize the course on site in Warsaw. If you get selected, we expect you to come to Warsaw. However, in case the number of Covid-19 cases rises and the restrictions are tightened to the point that travelling is not possible, we will not cancel the courses completely, but it will be offered online. And only in that case you can attend remotely.

If the mobility is possible in the physical mode, we will expect you on Saturday, November 13th. We plan to begin the activities on Saturday afternoon at around 17:00 (TBC). Please make sure you arrive on time.

On Saturday afternoon we are planning a welcome dinner (obligatory – first event of European Dimension Activities). During the dinner we will be collecting European Dimension Activities fee - 170 PLN (approx. 40 EUR).

On Monday morning, November 15th, we are planning an official opening of November 2021 session. After the opening the classes will start.

Friday, November 19th - official closing of the ATHENS November 2021 session in the afternoon after classes. In the evening, WUT students plan to take you to the goodbye party, if possible.

Saturday, November 20th - departure day.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic WUT is not able to offer accommodation in November 2021 session. However, we will put together a list of hostels located near WUT and the city centre which is in a walking distance to WUT. You will be requested to establish direct contact with them to book a room. These will only be suggestions and you will be free to browse the Internet and select an accommodation that you prefer. Please make sure that you book accommodation with flexible cancellation policy as neither home nor host universities will be able to offer any reimbursements in case of course cancellation or switch to virtual mode.

Classes will take place from Monday, November 15th to Friday, November 19th: CLASSES. You will receive detailed timetable before the beginning of the session.

If the Covid-19 restrictions become more strict and physical mobility is not possible, WUT will be offering both courses virtually.

Please note that participation in the EDA programme is mandatory. Organization of EDA will depend on the level of restrictions in November. More detailed information will be provided in due course.

Please check if you fulfill all the travel requirements connected with Covid-19 restrictions. Please also make sure that you book flight tickets with flexible cancellation policy as neither home nor host universities will be able to offer any reimbursements in case of course cancellation or switch to virtual mode.

Please note that currently we have two airports that can be considered as “Warsaw airport”:

  • Warsaw Chopin Airport – located within the city borders, approx. 8 km from the city centre
  • Mazovia-Warsaw Airport Modlin – located outside the city, approx. 40 km from the city centre.

Please bear it in mind while booking your flights, because it takes much more time to get to city centre from the Modlin airport than from the Chopin airport.

We will be looking forward to meeting you in Warsaw.
