7th GIST-European Universities Joint Workshop at Warsaw University of Technology

On 8-9th  November  Warsaw University of Technology hosted 7th GIST-European Universities Joint Workshop oraganised by Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (South Korea) and european partners.

GIST-European Universities Joint Workshop is organised since 2010 by Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology. Worshops take place alternately in Korea and european partner University.

GIST is one of the leading Korean research university, ranked No.2 in QS World University Rankings in citations per faculty which is widely view as an objective measure of research quality and productivity. GIST has grown to include eight world-class research institutes, including the Nobel Research Institute where four Nobel laureates continue to direct new researches.

Workshop

Prof. Rajmund Bacewicz, Vice-Rector for Science, WUT

The main objective of the workshop is to share and exchange the experience of researchers from Korea and the technical universities in Central Europe and search for areas of research collaboration.

The subject of this year's workshop related to photonics, optics and materials science, including the use of thermoelectric materials. The participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences and to  discuss the current research conducted in the above fields.

Parties discussed the possibility of obtaining funding for joint research projects as well as agreed on the exchange program for students and academic staff.

Apart from representatives of WUT and GIST, workshop was attended by scientists from the Czech Technical University (Czech Republic), University Babes-Bolyai University (Romania) and the Military Technical Academy.

Our guests also visited the laboratories in the departments of Physics, Mechatronics and Materials Engineering.
