Participation of Ukrainian academics and students in the '17th International Congress on Polymers in Concrete' at WUT
The 17th International Congress on Polymers in Concrete was inaugurated on 17 September 2023 in the Small Hall of the Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology. The ICPIC 2023 is co-organised by the Warsaw University of Technology and The Building Research Institute. Thanks to NAWA funding "Solidarity with Ukraine - European Universities", five academics from Lviv Polytechnic and three students from Kyiv Polytechnic participated in the congress.

The inauguration was attended by Prof. Mariusz Malinowski - Vice-Rector for Science at WUT, Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk - Rector of the Białystok University of Technology, Prof. Andrzej Garbacz - Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at WUT, Krzysztof Kuczyński, Ph.D. - Deputy Director for Research and Innovation at the Building Research Institute, Prof. Lech Czarnecki - Scientific Secretary of the Building Research Institute and Grzegorz Robak, Director of the International Cooperation Centre.

The aim of the ICPIC 2023 Congress is to exchange multidisciplinary knowledge on the use of polymers "in concrete" and "on concrete": from the modification of concrete composition using modern admixtures and additives through alternative binders, polymer composites for concrete reinforcement, the improvement of concrete surface properties to special properties such as self-healing, self-cleaning or the use of PCMs (Phase Change Materials) to control energy consumption. The central theme of the ICPIC 2023 Congress in Warsaw is the challenges polymer-concrete composites face in implementing a closed-loop economy.
ICPIC congresses have been organised regularly since 1975 by the International Congress on Polymers in Concrete, a not-for-profit organisation of specialists involved in the research and practical use of polymers in concrete. ICPIC congresses are attended by representatives of many countries from basically all continents.
A dedicated open-access book of proceedings entitled "International Congress on Polymers in Concrete (IPIC 2023). Cement-Polymer Composites in Circular Economy" will be published by Springer publisher - a part of Springer Nature.
