Kazakhstan Day at Warsaw University of Technology

On March 16, 2026, at Rektorska 4, the Centre for International Cooperation of Warsaw University of Technology, in cooperation with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Warsaw and students from Kazakhstan studying at the university, organized Kazakhstan Day.

The aim of the event was to present key information about Kazakhstan and to showcase the country’s culture, traditions, and contemporary character. Warsaw University of Technology was represented by Prof. Robert Zalewski, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, who officially welcomed the participants, as well as Grzegorz Robak, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation, and Marta Szajnowska-Ksit, Deputy Director of the Centre for International Cooperation. The Embassy of Kazakhstan was represented by Saule Turginbekova, Cultural and Scientific Counsellor, and Aidar Umarov, Embassy Attaché. A total of 112 people attended the event, marking a record turnout in the history of National Days at the university.

The meeting was jointly hosted by Magdalena Nałęcz from the Centre for International Cooperation - International Students Office, and Nurmukhammed Polat, a student of the  Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

The program included a presentation about Kazakhstan, a knowledge quiz with prizes, a Q&A session with rewards, and a tasting of traditional Kazakh snacks such as baursak, samsa, and chak-chak. The event had both educational and integrative character—its goal was to promote Kazakh culture and traditions while creating a space for dialogue and interaction between Polish and international students of the university.

Participants highlighted the significant value of international events for the academic community, as they foster intercultural dialogue.

Kazakhstan Day at WUT is another event in the National Days series, presenting countries represented by students of Warsaw University of Technology. So far, the International Cooperation Centre has organized days dedicated to Oman, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, India, and Turkey. The National Days series is coordinated by Magdalena Nałęcz from the Centre for International Cooperation.

Kazakhstan Day also continued WUT’s promotional activities in Central Asia from the previous year. On November 18–21, 2025, Director Grzegorz Robak and Magdalena Nałęcz participated in an educational fair in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as part of the “Study in Poland” program. In addition to attending the fair, they visited five secondary schools and two universities in Almaty and met with the Consul General of the Republic of Poland at the Polish diplomatic mission in Almaty – LINK
